Over the years we have developed a range of FPGA development and I/O boards to allow us to test our IP cores. With the introduction of our new range of standalone products we will, however, no longer be offering these boards. Details of the some of the boards we have developed are shown below.

You can now view the circuit diagrams and PCB layouts for these boards if you so wish and feel free to reuse the circuits if you feel they may help in your own designs. Please note however that we are not able to offer any technical support for these designs and they are provided without any obligation by SingMai Electronics.

 

DP4: Xilinx FPGA development board

DP4 is aimed particularly at video and multimedia applications, for example in security, broadcast, imaging or consumer electronics.

The heart of the board is a Xilinx XC3SD3400A FPGA which offers 53,715 logic elements, 2.268k Block RAM bits and 373k distributed RAM bits, 126 DSP48As and 8 DCM clock managers.

On board peripherals include a 27MHz crystal oscillator, 5 push buttons, an ADI AD9981 video front end processor, ADI AD1936 audio codec, two ADI AD9765 dual 12 bit general purpose DACs, ADI AD9238 dual 12 bit ADC and Gennum GS9002 SDI formatter and driver. In addition two I/O expansion connectors are provided which can be used for the connection of an LCD display, BT656 compatible peripherals or for general purpose I/O. The FPGA can be configured using the Xilinx 14 way JTAG connector which is also used to program the on-board FLASH device which can be used to configure the FPGA for stand-alone operation.

There are on-board linear power supplies to optimize the signal to noise ratio of the ADCs and DACs; the board requires a single 9V DC input from the supplied AC-DC converter.

  • Gennum GS9002 SDI formatter and driver.
  • On board FLASH device for stand alone configuration.
  • Two piggyback board connectors with access to parallel BT656 data and 24 bit RGB for driving an external LCD display.
  • 5 Pushbuttons
  • 27MHz crystal oscillator
  • All linear power supplies for the highest performance ADC and DAC operation.
  • Comes with example FPGA designs, AC-DC converter.

DP1: Audio/Video ADC/DAC interface for Altera FPGAs

DP1 is a SD and HD video ADC/DAC and audio codec that plugs directly into the Santa Cruz connectors of the Altera development boards for their Cyclone I (now obsolete) and Cyclone II FPGAs, as well as our own low cost DP2 development board. The board accepts composite, B/W, RGB and YPbPr video at either SD or HD resolution, and stereo analogue audio which it digitises for the FPGA. Outputs are stereo audio and composite, RGB or YPbPr video, again at SD or HD resolution. DP2: Audio/Video Altera FPGA development board

DP2 is an FPGA development board aimed particularly for cost sensitive audio and video applications, for example in security or consumer electronics. The heart of the board is an Altera EP2C8 FPGA which provides the perfect balance between sufficient resources, (for example two independent PT3 video decoders can fit in one device), and low cost to enable applications in the most cost sensitive applications. All of Singmai's IP cores will run on this platform. The board may be purchased separately or at a special price, bundled with the DP1.
